Do e-readers make it more difficult for you to remember what you’ve read?

Jan 17

The DailyMail has featured a strange story a few days ago. Apparently, electronic readers such as the Amazon Kindle and the Sony Reader, make it harder for you to absorb what you’ve read because the information is presented in such simple form. According to Princeton University, ebook readers encourage the brain to be “lazy”, making it more difficult to take things on board.  The whole study is actually more focused on the font than the devices.

I don’t know about you but I’m happy with my kindle.

Meet Hatsune Miku, Japan’s Hologram Singing Sensation

Nov 19

Miku is a digital avatar created by Japanese technology firm Crypton Future Media that customers can purchase and then program to perform any song on their computer.

She is supposed to be 16 years old and five foot two inches tall but her makers have given little away about her personality.

Crypton uses voices recorded by actors and then puts them through Yamaha’s Vocaloid software to create its characters.

Miku’s voice was created by taking vocal samples from the voice actress Saki Fujita. All of the samples contained a single Japanese sound which when strung together would create full words and phrases.

Her music and image have proved so popular that she has now gone on a sell-out tour where thousands of fans wave light sticks and scream as if she is a real-life pop star.

What about that?

Dannii Minogue gets help from sister Kylie at X-Factor

Sep 27

Dannii has vowed to beat rival judge Cheryl Cole by hiring Kylie – one of the world’s best-selling pop stars – to help her pick her three acts for the final.

A source: ‘Dannii realised once again that it’s a competition between the judges as much as it is between the competitors.

She knows she’s going to need the best team behind her.’

The source added: ‘Dannii knows that Cheryl is still managing to win the battle for the public. She realised it was time to bring in her more famous sister to help change things around a bit.’

The sisters were filmed in a suite at the five-star Atlantis Palm hotel in Dubai, where rooms start at £1,000 a night.

Don’t miss it, tonight.

Trinny & Susannah in America

Aug 21

Britain’s fashion duo, Trinny and Susannah, are hitting the US television.

The make-over gurus have called on fellow Brit Alexa Chung to help them break the lucrative American market.

They landed a slot on her MTV show ‘It’s On’

Alexa asked Trinny Woodall and her sidekick Susannah Constantine, who was wearing a Union Jack jacket, if any of the women they help makeover get offended at the “touching up”.

Trinny then leant over and touched Alexa’s right breast, squeezing it as she said “are those padded or real?”,

She insisted they were key things they need to know before they can genuinely advise people.

They have landed their own US show and it will be interesting to see what Americans make of them.

Has the X Factor still got the "X"?

Dec 03

If you have been watching the UK’s X Factor talent show on tv, you would know that this year seems to be fairly boring.

First up, I religiously watch the show every week which is mainly because there is some entertainment there and well, not much else on.

This year’s contestants have been cut down to currently 4 who will become 3 this weekend.

My problem is there I haven’t seen anyone truly standing out. Perhaps one of the females who sounded well good last weekend, Alexandra.
