Moroccan Rose make up tutorial

Mar 13

Another make up tutorial by The Body Shop. If you haven’t already, make sure you subscribe to their blog. Unlike many other companies, the Body Shop does indeed publish useful and interesting content.

This is a great look for spring, fairly simple to do and you may be able to substitute some of colours or mix and match a bit:

moroccan-rose

FACE

    * Start with an even base by using a Professional Makeup Sponge to blend Flawless Skin Protecting Foundation SPF 25. Just because the Spring rays are gentle, doesn’t mean the UV rays are any easier on your skin.

    * Use a small Lipstick/Concealer Brush to apply concealer to your trouble spots.

    * Use the larger Face & Body Brush to gently dust on Roseflower Blush Shade 01:Pink to the apples of the cheeks (the part that rounds out when you smile).

EYES

    * Use our Eyeshadow Brush to apply Roseflower Eyes Shade 01: Sunshine Gold, starting at the inner corner of the eye, and then blending over the lid in an upward sweeping motion.

    * Dampen the Smudger Brush just slightly and line the lower lashes with Roseflower Eyes Shade 01: Sunshine Gold (link).

    * Add a touch of Roseflower Eyes Shade 02: Mint Green to the Smudger Brush and shade the area just underneath the brow bone.

    * Line the upper lid with Liquid Eyeliner Shade 01: Black to make the shadow define the eyes even more.

    * Finish off with a swipe of Divide & Multiply Mascara Shade 01: Black.

LIPS

    * Smooth on a few layers of Roseflower Lips Shade 01: Soft Pink, and then dab a bit of Roseflower Lips Shade 03: Deep Pink onto the center of the lower lip. This little trick makes lips appear more full and luscious.

Get a fresh look for spring – The Body Shop’s Chase Aston

Mar 13

YouTube is a fantastic resource for make up and beauty videos. TheBodyShop has it’s own channel and quite regularly publishes interesting content.

One of the recent videos that caught my eye, was “How to Get a Fresh Look for Spring – with The Body Shop Makeup Artist Chase Aston”.

Check it out, there’s plenty of tips to take on board for a fab spring 2009!

Aloe and it’s benefits

Mar 13

I’ve started taking aloe vera supplements a while ago after reading about its full range of capabilities.

Aloe is a flowering succulent plant, which has fleshy leaves that retain water. This helps it to survive in dry, desert climates. It also provides an excellent source of natural healing and protection for our skin.

Taken orally, it is believed to aid digestion and soothes heartburn. In addition, it can help balance out blood sugar and has antibacterial properties.

How to: Milla Jovovich Bun

Mar 13

Milla Jovovich is one of the best, fresh-faced style icons. She hardly ever encounters any big mishaps and usually carries off playful and young styles very well.  You just have to love her!

At the Paris Fashion Week, Milla was spotted wearing a gorgeous make up and a slightly tousled loopy bun.

BellaSugar posted a great how-to for Milla’s hairstyle:

    * Step one: This style is much easier to accomplish on hair that’s not freshly washed. If your hair is squeaky clean, however, you can “dirty” it up with product. Try Pantene Pro-V Style Texturize! Spray Wax ($6) or Frederic Fekkai Wave Spray ($20).
    * Step two: Tease the hair around the nape of the neck to create volume. This also establishes a nice base for the bobby pins to cling to in step four. Lightly smooth out teased hair with a comb.
    * Step three: Create a middle part in the front of the hair. Gather the rest of the hair back into a ponytail at the base of the neck, leaving out a few face-framing pieces.
    * Step four: Now is the fun part. Take about a quarter inch piece of hair from your ponytail. Create a loop shape by pinning this hair to the base of the ponytail. Next, take another quarter-inch piece of hair and thread it through the previous piece. Pin into place. With each quarter-inch section of hair you take, get creative. Pin some just to the base of your ponytail. Then, loop others through previously pinned pieces — twisting and turning along the way. The overall effect? Like it was professionally done.

Red Heels for 2009

Mar 13

Red heels are incredibly sexy. This year, I can see them backing a big comeback. These are a few picks that are really gorgeous and cheap!

How to apply Bronzer – the simple way

Mar 13

Bronzers are great to get a little colour and shimmer on the face. A foundation alone can leave you looking incredibly bland and monotonous. Bronzer gives you that extra sparkle! Applying it isn’t all that difficult, as this video by Expertvillage demonstrates:

The make up artist does indeed a great job and the instructions are easy to follow. Check it out here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6PLgR__e4Zk

Gorgeous Summer Maxi Dresses

Mar 12

Spring is almost here and there’s a lot of things to look forward to this year. Spring and summer fashion is usually a big highlight for me. While I don’t buy into each and every fad/trend, I think maxi dresses are a great choice in 2009!

Here are some I really like:

Pricey but oh so lovely!

asos35image1l One shouldered maxi dress, £35, from Asos.com

The best skin moisturizers – pros and cons

Mar 12

Over the winter, my skin dried out dramatically. To restore the moisture levels and get glowing skin, try some these:

Powdered milk – milk in a bath is an ancient remedy for beautiful skin. Try half a pack of powdered milk next time you  have a long soak.

Baby oil – I love baby oil. It’s a very simple moisturizer giving great results. Either put a few drops in your bath water, or put on skin while you’re still wet to lock in every bit of moisture.

Bio-oil – is supposed to help reduce the appearance of scars and stretch marks. Although it is a great moisturizer, the oil gets really messy. It does seem to take a bit to get into the skin.

Garniers rescue lotion – is great but must be applied regularly.

hosting reviews

Mar 11

These days, people tend to save wherever they can. Instead of going to the gym, people work out at home.

There are certainly many things you can do to defy the current economic downturn.

Comparison and review sites are especially useful, since comparing before you purchase, can not only get you much better deals but save you a significant amount of money.

Many people have recently cut down on website hosting costs. However, those who make a living on the Internet need to have a professional Internet presence . Others simply don’t want to swap to an advert stuffed free hosting service.

Hosting doesn’t have to be expensive or a plain rip off, as WebHostingGeeks.com demonstrates. The site offers web hosting reviews and ratings.

If you want to find the best web hosts of 2009, this is the place to go. Check out various web hosting providers and see what features they offer. Make sure you browse through the reviews before you buy.

Vinegar for Dandruff – Does it work?

Mar 08

Home remedies such as vinegar for dandruff certainly sounds cheap and easy.  If you search for vinegar uses on the Internet, you will find that many people claim it actually works.

So if you want to give it a try, clean your scalp and fight dandruff, rinse your hair with a solution of 1/2 cup vinegar mixed with 2 cups of warm water. Rinse after shampooing.
