Garnier’s Nutritionist Daily Moisturiser

May 15

I like this one. After the first application, my skin felt incredibly soft and norished. I’ve had lots of trouble with previous moisturisers I used - burning sensations and redness to be specific.

All in all, I think this is a really good cream for normal and combination skin.

Watermelon

May 09

I love it. For me, it’s the perfect spring/summer snack. It’s light, virtually no calories and 92% of it is water. Simply delicious and helps you to stay hydrated.

I’d love to grow my own watermelons, but I haven’t really looked into the whole process of planting and growing them.

For now, I’ll just get some from the shop. Easier and less messy.

Here’s a yummy watermelon recipe I found on watermelon.org:

Watermelon Cherry Mojito

3 fresh mint sprigs, chopped

1/4 cup watermelon puree

1 tsp cherry syrup

3 Tablespoons fresh limejuice

2 oz light rum

Chilled sparkling water

1 sugar cane stirrer

1 lime wedge

Using a fork, press the mint with the back of a fork to coat the inside of the glass and leave it in the glass. Add the watermelon puree, cherry syrup, limejuice and rum. Stir well. Top with ice. Top-off the glass with sparkling water or club soda. Add the sugar cane stirrer and lime wedge to the glass and serve. Serves 1.

Pete Doherty Out Early??

May 02

I really don’t get the justice system.  Pete Doherty is set to be released early from prison after serving only a third of his sentence.

So he got a 14 week jail term, finally, but served only 29 days! The junkie singer was jailed on April 8 after defying orders to take drug tests during a suspended sentence for heroin possession.

The reason for his early release, a dumb government a scheme introduced last summer to ease jail overcrowding. The Daily Mail reports that he plans to throw a huge party and “get smashed” once he’s out. Good luck to him.

Anyone who thinks he’s “cool” or even a “role model” has seriously got a screw loose. I think he’ll just carry on doing what he’s been doing best, pumping drugs into his body. Nobody should come out that early. What a disgusting creature.

Madonna, The Material "Hooker"?

May 02

Don’t get me wrong, I think vintage Madonna was fabulous and I think it’s fair to say that has come out with a few good tunes during her impressively long career… but it seems to me she’s lost her sense of style lately.

She’s flaunting that “hooker look” lately and I don’t think it looks good. Just wonder if this will spark off another fashion trend.

MadChainsGOFF_468x876 Fashion icon? Hooker boots and bling.

The more I see of her lately, I’m just wondering if she will ever cover up and dress more sophisticated and less look-at-me/provocative.

Best Of NOW: Fruit

Apr 14

Hot right now are grapes, avocados, pineapples, limes, easy peel citrus.

Frozen grapes - I’ve been anxiously waiting for winter to pass to try this, quite summery food. I think this will make an excellent snack this spring/summer: toss your grapes in the freezer and eat them once they are frozen.

Avocados - not just temporarily hot… I eat all year round. Mainly in sandwiches or salads. They are yum and full of nutritional goodness.

Pineapples - I love em’. One of the healthiest foods you can eat. Try them as a salsa or make a Pizza “Hawaii”.

Limes - supposedly fantastic for detoxifying the body. I have yet to try them and I’m really curious.

Easy peel citrus - makes a great snack but too much of those make me sick.

Hydrating The Boobs - Firming Products For Your Breasts

Apr 06

I’m a big sceptic and generally don’t believe that bust firming / lifting gels work very well. One of my major issue I have with them is that these firming and lifting creme’s aren’t very likely to ever live up to people’s expectations and I really hate spending money on something when I could have just used Vaseline or baby oil instead. There is just no way that they will lift sagging breasts that are touching your knees!

Creme’s and Gels

Bust Firming Cream by Spa Energie Vegetable - available at Yves-Rocher.co.uk

lpic_1824_1001_3145 Currently priced at around £9.80

What they say

An immediate toning effect thanks to its fast-penetrating, melting gel cream texture that lightly massages. Day after day, your bust is more defined and firmer. The skin is hydrated*, smoothed and revitalised. (*Hydrates outer layers of the epidermis).

My verdict

I’ve tried this one and have been quite happy with it. It does leave the skin feeling smooth. It supposedly has a lifting or remodelling effect but you’ll hardly find any creme that magically defies gravity and puts your breasts into perfect shape. I’m afraid only surgeons can perform such miracles.

Another one I found on Yves Rocher was the Lifting Buste firmer

IB_15978 Currently priced at £10.50

What they say

Yves Rocher Botanical Laboratories have combined Mangifera Extract, renown for its firming action with the re-hydrating properties of Maple Sap Concentrate and Spa mineral water.

I think

I might actually try this. I haven’t used this product before but in my opinion, the Spa Energie Végétale, is a real good brand.

Elemis Pro Collagen Lifting Treatment for Neck & Bust

neck_Bust-160x140 A whopping £70, you might get it cheap on eBay or if you do a bit of a search.

What they say

A revolutionary Anti-Ageing Treatment that is clinically proven to reduce skin crepiness by up to 33% and increase skin firmness by 17% with a 14% increase in elasticity. A powerful Elemis solution for slackening skin, minimising the signs of ageing for a smoother, firmer, more youthful-looking neck and bust.

I think

This is a bit overpriced. Another product I haven’t tried yet, but whilst searching I’ve come across many reviews which rated this as a rather good product. Worth the money? That is the question.

I’m very eager to try these, Body Resculpt Bust and Bust Up by Biotherm. Having used several other products by the company, I was rather pleased.

biotherm body resculpt bust Currently priced at £29.50 I’m convinced you could find it cheaper online.

What they say - Body Resculpt Bust

A genuine ‘firmness concentrate’ that provides an intense, dual-action treatment:
- An instant tightening effect to tone and firm. The skin’s fibres are tightened and toned thanks to an instant tightening complex for a quick beauty fix (using the power of ceramides and hydrating polymers)
- Firming action to combat the loosening and ageing of the skin around the bust and neck. Skin is enhanced with improved elasticity day after day thanks to Vitamins B5 & E, Pure Extract of Thermal Plankton and an intense firming complex.

I can’t say much to this. I’m planning to trying the Biotherm products based on my experiences with the brand. I’ve also seen some positive reviews.

bust up biotherm  Seen this one for around £21.45

What they say

A bust lifting beauty treatment Instantly restores the elasticity of bust tissues Helps maintain a beautiful bust line Leaves skin thoroughly fresh & toned Apply morning & evening to busts.

Demi Moore’s Detox Treatment: Leeches

Mar 27

It’s kind of pathetic really that it takes a celebrity to bring this proven treatment back into the media spotlight: I’m talking about the little slimy, blood suckers… the leeches.

Demi Moore has recently revealed that she has received the alternative therapy as part of a detox plan.

demi_moore1_300_400

Truth is, this is nothing new. Leeches has been used in medicine for centuries and also in plastic and reconstructive surgery nowadays.

leech treatment

What makes these blood sucking creatures special is their anticoagulant which helps restore blood flow and fights blood clots. Also when they suck on a person’s blood, they apparently release a detoxifying enzyme.

Whether or not leeches are great for detoxifying your body remains unclear. I couldn’t really find any scientific evidence that supports alternative therapies such as the treatment Demi Moore received. One thing is clear though, medical leeches are rather useful on certain kind of procedures.
